Bank

Keep a bank of the temp nurses and hygienists you like working with, invite them by email, and block a temp you don't want back.

Staffing → Bank (/pms/staffing, in the clinical workspace) lists the temps your practice works with. Temps in your bank are offered your shifts first, 15 minutes before other temps nearby. Bank and Cover are for practices in the UK: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Owners and managers use Bank. Nobody else in the practice sees it, and neither does an agency that looks after your practice.

The page has three lists: Bank, Invited (invitations waiting for an answer) and Blocked.

Invite a temp

Click Invite a temp.

Enter their email address and click Send invitation.

We email them a link to Smileline. They are in your bank once they accept your invitation in their temp area, signed in with that email address. Until then the invitation shows under Invited with only the address you typed: you don't see whether they use Smileline, or anything about them. If they decline it, it disappears from Invited.

To cancel an invitation, click Cancel invitation on it under Invited, then click again to confirm.

What you see about a temp

For each temp in your bank or on your blocked list you see:

  • their name, whether they are active with Smileline, their GDC number and the roles they are registered for;
  • their record: how many shifts they worked, how many they cancelled and how many times they didn't turn up;
  • where each check stands: Verified (with the date it runs out, if it does), Run out, Not accepted or Revoked. A renewal that wasn't accepted leaves the earlier check Verified until it runs out. You never see a check's details or its documents;
  • Weeks with you: how many qualifying weeks they have worked for your practice in each role, out of 12. From the 13th week they are entitled to the same pay and holiday as an employee of yours doing the same job (see equal treatment).

Block a temp

Click Block on a temp in your bank, then click again to confirm. A blocked temp is never offered your shifts. You don't have to give a reason, and the temp isn't told.

Under Blocked, click Unblock (and confirm) to let them be offered your shifts again like any temp nearby, or Move to bank to put them back in your bank.

A temp appears in your lists only once they accept your invitation, or after they have worked a shift for you.

Remove a temp from your bank

Click Remove on a temp in your bank, then click again to confirm. They can still be offered your shifts like any other temp nearby; they just no longer get them first.
