Fanvil
Register a Fanvil X-series IP phone as a desk handset or on a desk phone line.
Click Show setup link on the phone's row in Settings → Phone → Voice & calling → Calling devices (a desk handset — a person's or a shared one like the reception phone), or on the number's card in Settings → Call routing (a desk phone line). See Desk phones for the difference.
Set up by link
This needs firmware 2.2.10 or newer — update older phones first, or enter the settings by hand.
On the phone's web page, open System → Auto Provision.
Set the protocol to HTTPS and type the setup link into the server
address without https://. Leave the user name, password and AES
fields blank.
Click Apply, then start provisioning (or restart the phone). The phone downloads its settings and registers; click Refresh on the card to see Handset registered.
If the phone refuses the link's security certificate, update its firmware — never switch certificate checking off, because the download carries the line's password.
Enter the settings by hand
Connect the phone to your network and power. Press Menu → Status to read its IP address.
In a browser on the same network, open http://<phone-ip> and sign in
(factory login admin / admin — change it while you're there).
Go to Line → SIP and, for SIP Line 1, fill in:
- Line Active: ticked
- Display Name: your practice name
- Username and Authentication User: the line's username
- Authentication Password: the line's password
- Server Address: the server shown under Show setup link —
sip.telnyx.eufor a UK practice,sip.telnyx.comfor a US one — Server Port:5061 - Under Global Settings (or the line's advanced settings), set the
transport protocol to TLS and the registration expiry to
180seconds.
In the line's advanced settings, set:
- RTP Encryption: Compulsory on a desk handset, Disabled on a desk phone line or a handset added before Smileline turned encryption on (see Desk phones)
- Keep Alive Type: SIP Option, Keep Alive Interval
30seconds - DTMF Type: RFC2833
Under Line → Audio (or the line's codec settings), enable G722 first, then PCMA and PCMU in the UK (PCMU before PCMA in the US), and disable G729.
Click Apply. The line shows Registered on the status page.
Call the number from a mobile — the handset rings. If the line is two-way, dial out to confirm outbound.
