Ad images
Add approved images from Social → Images to your ads, with the consent paid ads need. For practices in the UK and the US.
Ad images holds the pictures your ads can use. You make an image in Social → Images, approve it there, then add it here. Each one is a 4:5 image, ready to attach when you create a campaign. Ad images are part of the SEO & Ads add-on and are available to practices in the United Kingdom and the United States.
Open Ads → Campaigns and click the Ad images tab.
Who can do what
| To do this | You need | Who has it |
|---|---|---|
| Add an image | Connect providers, manage lead forms & draft campaigns, plus View the social calendar, ideas & insights | Owners and managers |
| Make a new image in Social → Images | Create & publish posts and ideas | Owners, managers and front desk |
| See your ad images | View ads, captured leads & results | Owners, managers, front desk and analysts |
When the add-on isn't active, the page still lists your images, but you can't add new ones.
Add an image
Make the image in Social → Images and approve it. A real photo of your team works best — for example a Team spotlight with your dentist's photo.
Open Ads → Campaigns, click the Ad images tab and click Add from Social Images.
Pick the image. If it was made with photos, tick the consent box (see Consent).
Click Add to ad images. The image appears at the top of the list, approved and ready to use.
Adding an image copies it into your ads library, so deleting it from Social → Images later doesn't remove it from your ads.
What can't be used
- Smile designs and before & after images. Both show a treatment result, which health advertising rules don't allow in ads.
- Carousels, such as Tips carousel: an ad image is a single picture.
- Images that haven't been approved in Social → Images yet.
- Images larger than 5 MB.
Consent
Adding an image made with photos asks you to confirm:
Everyone in these photos is on our team, is 18 or over, and has agreed in writing to appear in paid ads on Facebook, Instagram and Google, including AI-edited versions.
This is separate from the consent you gave when you made the image for social media, because paid ads reach people who don't follow you. Smileline records the wording you agreed to, who ticked it and when, with the image. Templates that never take a photo, such as Seasonal art, don't ask.
Never add photos of patients or children to your ads.
AI images and their cost
AI images, such as a Team headshot or Clinic photo polish, are made in Social → Images and billed there, on your Smileline invoice as AI content. See Costs. Adding an image to your ads costs nothing.
Smileline marks an image as AI-edited when an AI template made it, or when it's a layout whose photo could have been an AI image. Smileline doesn't add an AI label to the ad itself. The platforms may add their own: Meta, for example, can show AI info on images made with AI.
The policy check
Every ad is checked against healthcare advertising rules for your practice's country before it reaches a platform. An image added from Social carries no ad text of its own; the headline and text you write for a campaign are checked when you launch it, for the platform you launch on. Anything with a blocking finding can't launch.
Campaign templates
The ready-made campaigns you can build in four steps — where each one runs, what you provide, and the advertising rules it follows. For practices in the UK and the US.
